Every year Wella hosts a competition called Trend Vision Award. They release the trend brief in February, giving you the choice of Spring/Summer or Autumn/Winter, you take the brief and do your interpretation of it. It's a 3 stage competition starting with a photographic entry ( a before and after photo are sent in along with some information about what you did to achieve the look including colour formulas and thought process) Regional heats (you are given one hour to style your model, while the judges mill about and watch you work, followed by a presentation in front of the panel of judges. You need to tell them what your inspirations were, why & how you did things to achieve the look) And the finals in London (all the regional winners come to London where the competitors are given 3 hours to do the colour work and styling for the judges, followed by a presentation & a huge evening show hosted at The Roundhouse in Camden where the top 3 are announced)
This competition keeps getting bigger and bigger, last year nearly 700 people entered, this year was more. I'll find out later on how many entered this year. The reginal heats take the top 18 entries from the photographic entries and give the title of reginal winner to the top 5, creating a group of 20 competitors from all over the country to compete for the gold, silver and bronze award in London.
This is the second time I've entered Trend Vision and it's the second time I've gone through to the regional finals, however this year I was giving the honour of being named a regional winner!
It was a brilliant day and evening. My team were so amazing. I couldn't have done it without them. So here we are going to London for the Trend Vision Award Finals!!!
The event is October 10, 2016 so there is some time to prepare and plan. I'm really looking forward to it. And of course I'll let everyone know how it goes.
